THE GIFTED AND UNGIFTED PETER SELLERS

Here's the 1930s Austin, named "Old Min" ( from a Goon Show character ), which Peter Sellers gave as a gift to Spike Milligan.  He took it back after finding out it had been left out in the rain and that Milligan had replaced the water temperature gauge ( atop the radiator's chromed surround ) with a coffee percolator as a mascot !


p.s. an alternative version of the story about 'Old Min' is that it was actually owned by Milligan and that Sellers sold it without his knowledge as a mischievous prank when Milligan was out of the country.  Therefore the above tale may or may not be true about 'giving and ungiving' as the life and times, and often apocryphal tales about Sellers and Milligan, are confusing, frequently conflated and always teeter on the border of surreal.  You have thus been warned to find some salt to pinch !
